Metr secures 10.5 million euros for the optimization of existing buildings

Berlin-based PropTech metr has successfully closed its Series B financing round, raising 10.5 million euros. New on board is SBG – Sächsische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH, which specifically focuses on Saxony as an innovation hub. Existing investors Kachel GmbH (a subsidiary of WIKA), IBB Capital, BRAWO Capital, Next Big Thing AG, as well as several business angels, have reinvested.

For those who don’t know metr yet: metr develops an AI-based platform that bundles energy management and heating optimization into a single central solution. Connected to existing heating systems, the system helps owners, housing companies, and asset managers reduce energy consumption without having to invest in expensive renovation measures. More than 80 customers from the housing industry, asset management, and energy service providers already rely on metr.

The numbers are impressive as well. Revenue increased by more than 80 percent in 2025, and the Net Retention Rate stands at over 140 percent (meaning existing customers spend more money with metr year after year). Co-founder and CEO Dr. Franka Birke sees the new funding as the perfect foundation to further scale the platform, expand operational excellence, and prepare for international expansion.

Specifically, part of the capital will flow into a new hub in Leipzig. In parallel, metr is preparing to enter further European markets, with the declared goal of becoming the leading platform for intelligent energy management of existing buildings in Europe.

Congrats to the team!
