Shelly pushes the development of professional market segments

Shelly is strengthening its smart building offering with the following measures, among others:

  • Integration of the globally used KNX protocol for building automation in Shelly Pro and Shelly Pro PM products
  • Development of a DALI-implemented control unit for the digital control of DALI lighting systems
  • New tool for end customers on the German market to search for professional installers

As part of Light + Building 2024, Shelly has announced the integration of globally established hardware and software standards. Existing KNX systems for building automation and DALI systems for lighting control will benefit from the seamless integration and expansion possibilities of Shelly solutions and products without the need to change or extend existing cabling. In addition, Shelly is now offering a new free tool that connects end customers in the German market with electricians for the installation of their products.

By integrating the KNX protocol, automation processes can be coordinated with other KNX-compatible components. In this way, KNX automation solutions can be easily scaled to meet changing requirements and ensure future-proof flexibility and adaptability.

In addition, DALI-compatible lighting systems can be configured without changing the wiring. Seamless connectivity with digital DALI lighting systems will be provided by a controller for controlling DALI ballasts, which will be launched in the first half of 2024.

Shelly has also launched the “Installer Search”, a new tool to support specialist companies. This makes it easier for end customers to find the right electrician to install Shelly products and solutions at www.shelly.com/de/installateursuche. Electricians can register at the same link, giving them the opportunity to generate additional orders by installing Shelly products and solutions.

Wolfgang Kirsch, Co-CEO of Shelly Group, summarizes the strategy well: “The expansion of our product portfolio and the increasingly simple installation of our product portfolio and the ever simpler installation of our solutions contribute to our growth ambitions, as does the development of professional market segments through the use of globally established hardware and software standards. The simple connection between our end customers and professional installers creates a mutually beneficial situation. In this way, we strengthen customer and professional user loyalty and expand our market penetration and competitive position.”

We are curious to see whether Shelly can also secure a piece of the pie in the (professional) smart building market, or whether SIEMENS, PhoenixContact, Sauter, BOSCH, … will remain the standard here?
