Zurich Start-up Loki Robotics Raises $1.6 Million for Revolutionary Cleaning Robot

The Zurich-based start-up Loki Robotics has successfully raised €1.41 million in a pre-seed funding round 💵.
The company, founded by Miks Ozols and Antonio Arbues, is developing an autonomous cleaning robot for commercial spaces—particularly for restrooms and kitchens. The funding round was led by the venture capital firm byFounders and is intended to accelerate product development and team expansion.

A Robot for Demanding Cleaning Tasks

With its product “Loki,” Loki Robotics is setting new standards in building cleaning. The robot is specifically designed for complex, hygiene-sensitive areas such as public restrooms or office kitchens, which have so far required manual cleaning. Unlike conventional cleaning robots, Loki can switch tools, apply cleaning agents precisely, and interact with different surface types.

Thanks to machine learning and teleoperation, the robot adapts to dynamic environments and significantly reduces deployment time in new spaces. The goal: a clean and fully functional environment around the clock.

Significant Market Potential in the Cleaning Sector

byFounders, a venture capital firm specializing in early-stage start-ups, expressed strong confidence in Loki Robotics. “The cleaning market is huge—over $350 billion worldwide—and is still largely handled manually,” the firm stated. “The environments are semi-structured but complex enough that very few robots can manage them efficiently. That makes this market extremely attractive.”

In addition to byFounders, investors in the round included Unruly Capital, Acequia Capital, Earthling VC, Boost VC, Founderful Campus, and several business angels.

Next Steps: Team Growth and Market Launch

The fresh capital will primarily be invested in further developing the robot and expanding the team. Loki Robotics plans to establish its technology first in the commercial cleaning sector before expanding into additional robotics-based service applications.

With its innovative solution, Loki is advancing the automation of service tasks. The coming months will show how quickly—and whether—Loki can move from development to commercial deployment.
