Unlocking the Real Added Value of Digitalization on the Construction Site

New ways of working, such as the BIM methodology, have already significantly reshaped parts of the planning process for construction projects. However, digital workflows, the use of intelligent applications, and even the BIM methodology itself are often not consistently carried through onto the construction site.

In this seminar, Martin explains how methodologies from the planning phase can be transferred into the construction phase and which options already exist today to digitalize construction sites and daily workflows. This is always viewed through the realistic lens that a construction site is not a high-tech office staffed with IT specialists. Despite his young age, Martin brings substantial on-site experience and understands that simple, clear, and practical solutions are essential—otherwise, they have no chance of being adopted. Construction sites are honest and direct environments.

Digital support starts with fundamental topics such as selecting the right CDE—one that truly supports on-site work and is easy to use. It also includes more specific solutions, such as digitally and AI-supported construction-vs.-planning comparisons (as-built reality vs. design intent). In addition, Martin addresses the digital support of everyday tasks like quantity take-offs, invoice verification, performance validation, and photo documentation. For each solution, the approach and real-world application examples are presented, clearly demonstrating the added value through time and cost savings as well as quality improvements—all based on practical experience.
